Grace, Bella and Alpha. Three great friends that I laugh with and learn from . . . .over drinks. On a regular basis.
There seems to be something about that moment . . .the end of the day, the glass in front of you, the small table in a corner in a packed room of people. It brings a focus and a perspective that’s often very helpful and always very entertaining.
Grace — is exactly as her name suggests, elegant, grounded, smart, gracious and brings a wisdom and perspective to my ramblings that has saved me more than once.
Bella — listens carefully and then responds with “Annie, here’s the thing . . . .” When she starts off like that, I know she’ll have my best interest at heart, she’ll cut through the delusional optimism and will bring a much needed dose of reality. And I might not like it. I often disagree with her, but always value her insights.
Alpha – this is a story in itself. The man’s perspective. The guy that taught me how to drink a martini and reimagine my life. I’ve learned a lot from him over the years . . . about myself and about the world around me.
